Students who have a successful study plan will often be the students who get the best grades. Now is the time to improve study skills and be the best student you can be. This article will provide you with four quick study tips that will help develop a rock solid study plan. The fist step to a rock solid study plan is to properly set up your study environment.

Setting up a study environment is the first step in developing your study plan. Find a setting that works for you. Do you need it quiet or maybe some music softly playing. Everyone has a different optimal study environment and the key is to find what works for you and then repeat it every time. After setting up your optimal study environment the next step is to develop a study plan.

Studies have shown that after 21 days an activity becomes routine so develop a study routine and stick to it. The concept of just "fitting it in" when trying to study will lead you to failure. The best way to develop a study plan is to write down specific times of the day in a day planner or calender and when that time rolls around commit to the time. When studying during those times review material learned that day.

Reviewing new material that you learned that day will limit the amount of time you will need to re-learn the material when test time come around. At the end of the day take some time to review the material learned that day and commit to memory. The benefit to you is when final test preparation comes along this information will be easily recognized and limit the amount of study time needed.

When studying do it in short bursts. It has been proven that studying in short bursts will produce better results than one long study session. Even if you only have 20 minutes to study commit to it and then stop after 20 minuets, take a break and then start up again. This is known as disturbed learning and is the best practice as this is how the brain functions best.

Plants are shaped by cultivation and men by education. .. We are born weak, we need strength; we are born totally unprovided, we need aid; we are born stupid, we need judgment. Everything we do not have at our birth and which we need when we are grown is given us by education.

(Jean Jacques Rousseau, Emile, On Philosophy of Education)
