Study Strategy For Better Grades

Posted on 30 Mar 2022 by admin | Filled under: general

Throughout all the years in school my teachers told me to spend more time studying instead of in sports and goofing-off and I would learn more and make much better grades. In my case that study strategy for better grades was not always true. I discovered it's not how much time you study but HOW you study that can make the difference between a C and an A. To receive better grades and become successful academically it is best to choose a study strategy that accelerates learning with the least amount of effort.

Where you study is an important part of a good study plan. Many students study in Wi-Fi coffee shops alone or in small groups. Certainly this has value, particularly for group projects. But, remember the study areas at school? Whether it is the library or specified study rooms, these areas are dedicated to studying. They are properly lit, quiet, and have minimal distractions. This is an excellent basic setting that can help make learning easier. For studying at home locate a spot which has a similar advantage. Be sure there is good lighting to help reduce eye strain.

Noise can be a huge distraction when trying to concentrate. If the best spot at home has some background noise, try turning on some music. I prefer instrumental music to mellow out the background noise. Vocals can be distracting, however select what is good for you. Many students use iPods, I but I favor speakers when I am in a separate room.

What you eat and drink before or during study time can have a negative affect on your mental skills and learning processes. It should go without saying but, drinking alcohol while studying significantly impedes your ability to learn. Eating foods with a lot of processed sugar can, along with a very-full stomach, can slow you down mentally and physically. Plan your eating habits accordingly for study time.

Focus is a must. I was helping a high school student with a school assignment. Everything was going good until he appeared to lose interest. He was sending text messages with one hand beneath the table! Cell phones and text messaging are good ways to communicate, although not while studying. You decide the best way to overcome this distraction and stay focused while studying.

Want to get better grades? Make a commitment to improve how you study. The good thing is there are study technique programs immediately accessible developed by professionals.

Plants are shaped by cultivation and men by education. .. We are born weak, we need strength; we are born totally unprovided, we need aid; we are born stupid, we need judgment. Everything we do not have at our birth and which we need when we are grown is given us by education.

(Jean Jacques Rousseau, Emile, On Philosophy of Education)
